In Cultivating Genius, students will learn the four-layered framework-identity, skills, development, intellect, and criticality-as they design historically responsive learning goals and lesson plans to reach all young students, especially students of color who traditionally have been marginalized by learning standards, government policies and school practices.

 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will:

  • Understand what it means to be historically responsive in literacy instruction.
  • Identify layers of the historically responsive literacy framework for teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrate understanding of content through the implementation of ideas within the classroom setting.
  • Extend learning of course content through researching additional evidence that supports the author’s ideas about literacy.
  • Develop skills to reflect on & improve their teaching practices.

Step 1 - Choose your credit type:

a) Graduate-level PDE credit (University of North Dakota) cannot be used for master’s/degree programs of study.

b) The ED 500 course number is for post-baccalaureate non-degree graduate-level professional development credit study at CSU-Pueblo. The 500-course numbers ARE NOT eligible to be used on programs of study.

c) Noncredit/CEUs provide a record of completion (CEA)
