This online book study course provides neuroscience research and Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor’s lived experience of developing her method for “Whole Brain Living.” During this book study and professional development course, this course will share with you Dr. Jill’s story of having a stroke that took her Left Hemisphere offline and how through this experience and her full recovery as a stroke survivor and a neuroscientist she identifies that the half-century belief that we have a right emotional brain that houses our creativity and left thinking brain that houses our rational thinking is a myth. Neuroscience now shows that we have four distinct modules of cells that Dr. Jill calls “Characters”.
Course Objectives
Individuals in this course will:
• Develop an awareness that the brain has four distinct modules of cells that Dr. Jill presents as the Four Characters of the brain.
• Understand the Four Characters that make up the brain and the personal and professional use of each of these characters.
• Begin to identify these characters within yourself and others.
• Identify how each character is responsible for a task such as organization, protection, creativity, and or peace and serenity, and identify the automatic ways to access each character.
• Learn how to do a “Brain Huddle” to determine which of your characters needs to be in charge at any given moment.
• Deepen the connection to the Four Characters and the Body and the disconnection that can occur during addiction.
